A REFINED DESIGN LANGUAGE
For more than 15 years Myk Lum and the design team at LDA have worked closely with Infinity's mobile audio division to develop their various lines of speakers, amplifiers and subwoofers. This collaboration with LDA has led to a refined and distinct design language which has helped Infinity stand out in a crowded mobile audio market.
REFERENCE REFRESH
In 2007 Infinity partnered with LDA to refresh their line of Reference subwoofers. The objective of this refresh effort was to give the product a new and relevant look without drastically impacting cost. With this constraint in mind the focus of the design effort centered on the woofer cone, dust cap and magnet cover while preserving the internal components and stamped rear basket.
A SOPHISTICATED REDESIGN
The result was a simple and elegant solution that really sings. Leveraging sophisticated materials and brushed finishes for visual pop the Reference subwoofer uses blended surfacing and carefully placed part lines to focus visual attention on the infinity logo placement. Similarly blended surfaces are used on the magnet cover to reflect the aesthetics of the dust cap and promote visual continuity.
